Should the arms be installed where they each touch the bronze bushing? When I welded mine together, I left about an inch clearance on each side but noticed my torsion bar trying to slide towards the passenger side. Is this normal? I put a piece of PVC clamped to the torsion bar and it stopped the shift. Any ideas? Thanks.

It is optimal to leave about .040-.050 clearance between the arms and the retainer arms. This will keep the torsion tube situated, but keeps it from binding against the bronze bushing.
It is highly recommended to reposition the arm on the torsion tube.
